About Happy Hound K9 Care

Hi, I’m Jacqui, owner and trainer at Happy Hound K9 Care based in Huddersfield with my two rescue beagles Alfie and Bo who are the reason I started my dog business.

After adopting Alfie, a scared shut down beagle 10 years ago, we worked with tirelessly to restore his faith in humankind and become his best self. But it was when he developed separation anxiety that I started to learn about dog behaviour, training methods and class structure and finally making my passion a business.

I believe in positive and reward-based training to build relationships with your dog, by learning through fun games to get good basics. I am now running my dream doggy business and I’m constantly learning as dog behaviour is such a big and fascinating topic and there is so much more to discover.

I am a member of the Pet Professional Network, DBS checked and first Aid Qualified and fully insured and happy to share this information with you for extra reassurance.

Let me help you with your dog's separation anxiety

Living with a dog that cannot manage being home alone can be limiting, stressful and frustrating-I know I did but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

  • Are you having trouble leaving the house, feel as though you’re not going to get your life back?
  • Is your dog distressed when you try to leave the house even to go to the bins?
  • Is your dog causing destruction when on its own?
  • Are your neighbours complaining of barking?

You love your dog but didn’t expect to have to be with them 24/7 and leaving them makes you feel guilty, even though it’s not your fault. I can help by following a structured approach teaching the dog over time that being alone is ok, you have come to the right place. As my goal as a separation anxiety trainer is to change your dog's behaviour to being left alone by giving it confidence using kind and patient training.

Why online training?

Tackling separation anxiety works better online as there is no need to add extra stress into the dog's life and by doing the sessions remotely works perfectly. After all, your dog needs to cope with you leaving and not me so having a trainer in person only adds more stress and does replicate normal life.

Our goal is to change the dog's fearful response to being home alone by offering simple and effective solutions that work.

Are you insured

Yes! I hold a full public liability insurance and all new clients can request to see a copy of the liability insurance at the initial consultation.

Are you DBS checked?

Yes! All team members have been DBS checked and again clients can request to see a copy.

What happens at the consultation?

The consultation is when we all get to meet and greet each other and most importantly I get to meet your dog on its own tuff and we get to run through all the health and safety aspects of the walk so we are all comfortable. This is free of charge and carries no obligation.

Do you walk off the lead?

Yes, but only with your consent.

How many dogs do you walk at once?

I only walk up to four at once, to make sure all the dogs are safe and enjoying their walk in a controlled environment.

What happens in case of emergency?

We will call you first to discuss an action plan, I will already have your vet’s details as discussed in the consultation, if you can’t be reached then I will take your dog to my vet.
